"POSTCARDS FROM GOWANUS"
“Postcards
from Gowanus” explores a multitude of approaches to mapping the
immediate vicinity surrounding Cabinet’s gallery space in Gowanus.
Through a series of collaborative research workshops held during the
last month, participants have created projects in the form of audio
recordings, performances, literary experiments, collages, photographic
series, and experimental video documentaries.
An exhibit and radio narrowcast will occur at Cabinet’s gallery
space March 17–19, with a closing reception and live performances on
Friday, March 19, from 6–9 pm.
The program is collaboratively
organized by Penny Duff (exhibit), Gabrielle Herbst (performances), and
Maria Papadomanolaki (radio) and is sponsored in part by free103point9. For more information, visit postcardsfromgowanus.blogspot.com

ABOUT THE INTERN INITIATIVE
The Intern Initiative is a
program begun in the fall of 2009 at Cabinet. It aims to bring together
interns from a wide range of non-profit institutions across New York
City in order to encourage a dialogue on the role of unpaid internships
in contemporary society. Additionally, the Intern Initiative offers the
opportunity for New York City area interns to collaboratively plan
public cultural events at Cabinet's exhibition space.
Cabinet is a non-profit organization supported by the Lambent Foundation, the Orphiflamme Foundation, the New York Council on the Arts, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the Katchadourian Family Foundation, Goldman Sachs Gives, the Danielson Foundation, and many generous individuals.
