Neudecker’s project, commissioned for the issue, features a fish bowl, water, salt solution, GAC100 acrylic, a panoramic mountain postcard, and cardboard. These modest materials produce an effect that at once stages and exposes the impulse behind the traditional Romantic depictions of the Mountain Sublime.
Mariele Neudecker is a German-born artist based in Bristol, UK. She works in a variety of media and investigates contemporary perceptions of Romanticism and the Sublime. Neudecker, who has exhibited internationally, is represented by Galerie Barbara Thumm, Berlin.
