Riders on the storm
Cassandra C. Jones
The original photographs that form the basis of Jones’s works on the following pages were sourced from stock photography and public domain image banks, and reassembled into individual inkjet prints. The scenarios they depict—“animals” jumping through time, space, and different rural, suburban, and municipal locales—suggest a potential way to read relationships between meteorological and zoological phenomena, proposing the possibility of some cryptic order lying beneath the heterogeneous stuff of the world; one which, when divined, might reveal a kind of harmony that unifies the wildly sundry nature of things.

Cassandra C. Jones lives and works in both Brooklyn, New York, and Ojai, California. She received her MFA from Carnegie Mellon University and is represented by Baer Ridgway Exhibitions in San Francisco.
